Summary of Proposal:
MAG has amended Rule 12 of Regulation 194 (Rules of Civil Procedure) to:
• Ensure Rule 12 is consistent with the recent statutory amendments to the Class Proceedings Act, 1992 contained in the Smarter and Stronger Justice Act, 2020.
• Make housekeeping amendments to Rules 12.01 and 12.08 so that the term "the Act" refers to the Class Proceedings Act, 1992 throughout Rule 12.
• Ensure Rule 12 is consistent with the recent statutory amendments to the Class Proceedings Act, 1992 contained in the Smarter and Stronger Justice Act, 2020.
