Summary of Decision:
A decision was made to proceed with the proposal as described subject to the following additional changes made by the ministry:

Additional descriptive information was added to the description of unorganized territory in the Territorial District of Kenora to provide additional clarity to the public on the area where the regulation would apply.

The areas of the municipality of Lake of the Woods where the regulation applies were clarified to by specifying the names of the townships of Morson, McCrosson, and Tovell within the municipality where this regulation applies.

The proposal was implemented by an amendment to O. Reg. 663/98 (Area Descriptions) by O. Reg. 50/11. This regulation was filed by the Registrar of Regulations on March 4, 2011 and was published in the Ontario Gazette on March 19, 2011.

Summary of Proposal:
This proposed amendment would add a number of additional communities to areas where it is prohibited to possess a loaded firearm in or discharge a firearm across a right of way for public vehicular traffic. This includes several municipalities in the Districts of Rainy River and Kenora who have indicated a desire to be added to these schedules during the period of the open gun seasons for deer in those areas.

The municipalities that are proposed to be added to the schedule are:

In the municipality of Rainy River
the single-tier municipalities of Alberton, Chapple, Dawson, Emo, Fort Frances, La Vallee, Morley, Lake of the Woods, and Rainy River and the geographic townships of Dance (excluding Lyons Bay Road and Lost Creek Road), Kingsford (excluding Fleming Road), Miscampell (excluding Boffin Road), Pratt, Nelles, Spohn and Sutherland

In the municipality of Kenora
the single-tier municipality of Kenora and the geographic townships of Boys, Ewart, Forgie, Gidley, Glass, Gundy, Kirkup, and Pellatt and the unorganized area east of the geographic township of Boys township, south of the geographic township of Pellatt and west of the single-tier municipality of Kenora to the shore of Lake of the Woods

NOTE: In a separate administrative regulation, an amendment was recently made to move schedules under former Regulation 485 and Ontario Regulation 766/94 that were made under the revoked Game and Fish Act and add them a new Part to O. Reg. 663/98 to reflect current municipal boundaries and names.
