Summary of Proposal:
Legislative amendments were made in 2009 to Part III (Parking Permits) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) in the Good Government Act, 2009. These amendments changed the name of the parking permit program from “Disabled Parking” to “Accessible Parking” and “Disabled Person Parking Permit” to “Accessible Parking Permit”. Consequential amendments are now required to change the name of the program in the regulation to be consistent with how it is described in legislation.

This proposal supports the guidelines established under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005.

Also, a French version of the regulation is being added. Creating bilingual regulations supports Ontario’s commitment to offer services in both of Canada’s official languages.
