Reg. 430: Sheep - Plan has been amended to correct an unintended error to the amendment which was filed in June 2023.
On June 9, 2023, the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission (Commission) amended Reg. 430: Sheep - Plan which established director term limits as well as change the board's name from the Ontario Sheep Marketing Agency to Ontario Sheep Farmers.
At that time, additional housekeeping amendments updated geographic references of the producer districts to align with the Territorial Divisions Act, 2002. The June 2023 amendment removed references to the dissolved municipalities of Kanata and the West Carleton area.
The purpose of this amendment is to correct an unintended change to the boundary between District 9 and District 10. By referencing Ward 4 - Kanata and Ward 5 - West Carleton under Ontario Regulation 407/00: Ward Descriptions of the City of Ottawa Act, 1991, which comprises the area of the former City of Kanata and the Township of West Carleton, production in these areas returns to District 9.
While the previous regulatory amendment was posted for consultation, the implications of the unintended district realignment was not apparent; therefore, this correction aligns with the proposal that was consulted on and which had strong support.
The Commission has the authority to amend plan regulations, subject to Minister's approval.
The Regulation was filed with the Registrar of Regulations and is now in effect.
