Summary of Proposal:
In addition to the regulations that are continuing unchanged from the Tenant Protection Act, 1997 and will be incorporated into the regulations to the RTA, new regulations will be developed to address existing issues concerning:
-Social and affordable housing exemptions;
-Capital expenditures (including a modified definition) and above guideline increases (AGIs) to rent;
-Utilities, AGIs and costs no longer borne; and
-Other areas including, but not limited to, defining "tenant," rent reductions, rent abatements, times of year heat is to be made a vital service, forms and notification procedures for the new Landlord and Tenant Board.
