Summary of Proposal:
The ESA requires employers to pay at least the prescribed minimum wage. The minimum wage rates are set out in Regulation 285/01 under the ESA. This regulation would amend Regulation 285/01 to implement the increases to the general minimum wage that were announced in the 2007 budget. Specifically, it would increase the general minimum wage to $10.25 by 2010, with three annual increases of 75 cents starting on March 31, 2008.
