Summary of Proposal:
The Good Government Act, 2006 (GGA) received Royal Assent on June 22, 2006. Many provisions under the GGA came into force on that day. The GGA contained amendments to the Farm Products Marketing Act (FPMA) to change the definition of "chicks-for-placement" from female chickens of twenty weeks of age or less to female chickens of nineteen weeks of age or less and the definition of "fowl" from a domestic hen more than twenty weeks of age to a domestic hen of more than nineteen weeks of age. Although the definitions of the these terms in the FPMA were amended, the definitions of the same terms in R.R.O.1990 Regulation 407 (Eggs - Marketing) and R.R.O. 1990 Regulation 409 (Eggs - Plan) were not amended to reflect the statutory amendments. The proposed amendments will address this oversight.
