Regulation - LGIC

Amendment to the Retirement Homes Act Regulation 166 (General)

Regulation Number(s):
416/12
Instrument Type:
Regulation - LGIC
Bill or Act:
Retirement Homes Act, 2010
Summary of Decision:
The regulatory amendment was required as a result of the province's Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI) that came into effect on January 1, 2013. This new program consolidates funding from five homelessness-related programs into a single funding envelope administered by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. In order to maintain the existing exemption of Emergency Hostel Services and Domiciliary Hostel Program funded beds under the Retirement Homes Act, 2010 (RHA) under CHPI, a regulatory amendment was required to section 3(2) of O. Reg. 166/11 (General). The amendment exempts "premises or parts of premises funded under the Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing" from the definition of a retirement home under the RHA.
