Summary of Proposal:
Section 18 (5.1) of regulation 402 establishes that all negotiations of the minimum live price for chicken shall be conducted in accordance with the formula in the Schedule. Section 4 of the schedule states: "For every $5/tonne change in the feed price, the minimum live price will be adjusted by one cent in the corresponding direction." Improved genetics and nutrition programs resulted in efficiency gains in the feed conversion rate. The amendment to Regulation 402 recognizes the improved feed conversion rates from 2 kilograms of feed for each kilogram of live weight gain to 1.72 kilograms of feed for each kilogram of live weight gain. The proposed amendment would read, "For every $5.81/tonne change in the feed price, the minimum live price will be adjusted by one cent in the corresponding direction."
