Summary of Decision:
The City of Ottawa Act, 1999 is named to Ontario Regulation 442/95 under the Business Regulation Reform Act, 1994. This authorizes programs administered under the City of Ottawa Act, 1999 to use the single business number for identification purposes, and to participate in the Ontario Business Directory.
In partnership with ServiceOntario, the City of Ottawa intends to create and implement the ability for business owners to access City of Ottawa services using their Single Business Number, based on the "One Business Number Program". Use of the Single Business Number will form the basis for local businesses to register and make use of the City of Ottawa's "My-Business Account", where businesses will have the ability to apply, pay, renew and review their historic and current permit, licensing and activities within one consolidated secure view. Examples of licenses issued by the City of Ottawa include those issued for amusement places, food premises, public garages and tobacco vendors.
