Summary of Proposal:
R.R.O. 1990, Regulation 410 (Fresh Grapes - Marketing) outlines the authorities of the Ontario Fresh Grape Growers' Marketing Board (OFGGMB). The proposed amendment would allow the OFGGMB to establish an industry advisory committee (IAC).

Regulation 410 does not currently provide for an IAC. As a result, in conjunction with the dealer-shippers that operate in the fresh grape sector, the OFGGMB requested that Regulation 410 be amended to allow for the industry to meet in this capacity.

The IAC would include grower and dealer-shipper representatives. The mandate of a fresh grape IAC would be to advise and make recommendations to the OFGGMB and/or the Canadian Produce Marketing Association. Advice would relate to promotion and marketing activities, improving quality, sharing information, and positioning the industry to identify and take advantage of opportunities that may exist to improve the industry.

IACs are established in the marketing regulations of many of the marketing boards under the Farm Products Marketing Act. The utilization of IACs assists the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission to foster enhanced stakeholder collaboration along the value chain, by connecting producers with buyers, processors and retailers of regulated farm products.
