Summary of Proposal:
The Board of Trustees of the Law Foundation of Ontario has made amendments to Regulation 709, subject to the approval of the Lieutenant Governor in Council, to remove the requirement for lawyers and paralegals to submit information about mixed trust account balances in their annual Form 1 report to the Law Foundation. Instead, the Regulation would require lawyers and paralegals to submit such information as part of their annual report to the Law Society of Upper Canada. The purposes of the proposed amendments are to increase compliance with Law Foundation reporting requirements and to streamline the reporting process for lawyers and paralegals.
