Summary of Proposal:
The ministry has worked with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA), insurers and
members of the TSSA's Propane Advisory Council to develop a proposed approach to respond to Recommendation 31 of the Propane Safety Review Panel. The ministry seeks comments on the proposed approach to a Minister's regulation that would establish minimum levels of liability insurance for propane facilities licensed by the TSSA as outlined in the attached document.
Please note that at this time, this is only a proposed approach for consultation purposes. The ability to
establish insurance requirements for propane operators is contingent on the Ontario Legislature passing the pertinent amendments in Bill 187 and proclamation of those sections of the Act into force.
