Regulation Number(s):
340/94
Instrument Type:
Regulation - LGIC
Bill or Act:
Highway Traffic Act
Summary of Proposal:
The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is updating the knowledge and road tests for all commercial class licences (class A, B, C, D, E and F) to competency-based testing to ensure the applicant demonstrates the knowledge and skills required to safely operate a commercial vehicle.

As a result of the enhanced tests, MTO is proposing to increase the knowledge and road test fees for all commercial classes of driver's licences (A, B, C, D, E, F), under Ontario Regulation 340/94, effective July 1st, 2017.

If approved, this proposal will affect both new applicants for a commercial class driver's licence, who are required to complete both the knowledge and road test, and drivers who are renewing their commercial class driver's licence, who are required to complete a knowledge test.
