Summary of Proposal:
O. Reg. 32/08 under the Human Rights Code gave the Chair of the Human Rights Legal Support Centre (HRLSC) all of the powers, duties and functions of the board of directors of the Centre until the commencement of the first board of directors’ meeting. During the initial set up of the HRLSC, some key decisions needed to be made and the power to make those decisions resided in the HRLSC board of directors. The regulation was required to allow the Chair to temporarily act for the board prior to the board prior to the appointment of those directors. The HRLSC opened its doors in June 2008 and a board of directors is in place. The regulation is now spent and can be revoked.
