Summary of Proposal:
The Minister of Municipal Affairs is proposing amendments to Ontario Regulation 447/07 under the City of Toronto Act, 2006 to allow the City to delegate to a council committee the power to designate a private road as a fire route under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997 and to make technical amendments to reflect changes in Ontario Regulation 389/91 (Special Occasion Permits).
These technical amendments are described below:
-Paragraph 1 of subsection 2(2) of O. Reg. 447/07 currently refers to paragraph 3 of section 3 of Ontario Regulation 389/91 (Special Occasion Permits). "Paragraph 3" would be struck out and replaced with "subparagraph 2 iii." This would continue addressing the City's authority to delegate the power to designate an event as an event of municipal significance.
-Paragraph 2 of subsection 2(2) of O. Reg. 447/07, which is respecting delegation of the power to designate an event as a community festival, would be revoked.
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs welcomes feedback on the proposed regulation amendment and encourages anyone interested to provide comments on the proposal. Comments may be submitted until January 9, 2018 by e-mail at, municipalreview@ontario.ca, or by mail.
