Summary of Proposal:
The trades subject to a journeyperson to apprentice ratio are established under a Minister's regulation, O. Reg.175/11, Prescribed Trades and Related Matters.
OCTAA requires the College's Board to initiate a review, at least once every four years, of each ratio that has been prescribed. The Board completed its initial round of ratio reviews in 2014 and filed its first ratio regulation, O. Reg. 104/14, in April 2014. The next round of ratio reviews was to be initiated by April 2018.

Upon request, the Minister of Labour exercised his regulation-making authority to extend the initiation of the next round of ratio reviews. The extension will allow the College to broadly consult on changes to the criteria and process related to ratio reviews, as recommended by Tony Dean in his 2015 report "Supporting a Strong and Sustainable Ontario College of Trades."

With the ratio review extension now in place, the College is required to initiate the next round of ratio reviews by April 2019.
