Summary of Decision:
The Ministry of Transportation approved an amendment to the Highway Traffic Act, Ontario Regulation 620/05 - High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes (HOV) for the purpose of allowing single-occupant motorcycles to access HOV lanes.
The amendment to O. Reg. 620/05 - High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes came into force on July 1, 2019, and is effective upon filing.

Summary of Proposal:
The Ministry of Transportation is proposing to make an amendment to the Highway Traffic Act, Ontario Regulation 620/05: High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes, for the purpose of permitting single-occupant motorcycles in provincial HOV lanes.
The introduction of an occupancy exemption for motorcycles as proposed is aimed at enhancing road user safety and aligning Ontario's HOV rules with other jurisdictions.
