Termination of Amendments to Regulatory Requirements for Adoption Agencies to Transition the Sector Back to Regular Service

Summary of Decision:
The ministry is transitioning adoption agencies back to regular practice following the end of the emergency by terminating certain provisions of O. Reg. 155/18 under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, 2017 that came into force on May 8, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and public health recommendations. These provisions permitted adoption agencies (i.e., children's aid societies and adoption licensees) to depart from requirements for in-person home visits after a child has been placed on adoption probation.

Section 99.1 of O.Reg 155/18 has been amended so that, as of September 18, 2020, adoption agencies will not longer be permitted to deviate from the requirement for home
