Summary of Proposal:
The regulation makes administrative amendments to align the Rules of Civil Procedure with legislative amendments that were introduced to remove the office of a traditional master. The amendments were made to the Courts of Justice Act through the Smarter and Stronger Justice Act, 2020, Schedule 5 (link below).

Three rules are amended by removing references to the office of master and nineteen rules are amended by replacing references to "master" with references to "case management master." Fourteen forms are amended to replace references to "master" with references to "case management master." The changes will maintain the jurisdiction of a case management master that is currently conferred by the court rules pursuant to the Courts of Justice Act. These amendments come into force on January 8, 2021.

The regulation makes administrative amendments to the rule relating to the CaseLines platform by clarifying the requirements relating to the naming of a document which is to be submitted (document date format and party name requirements in the title of the document; rule 4.05.3(6)2 amendment). These amendments come into force on January 1, 2021.
