Summary of Decision:
The Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO) and the Association of Ontario Chicken Processors (AOCP) jointly asked the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission (Commission) to amend Ontario Regulation 402: Chickens - Marketing, under the Farm Products Marketing Act
The amendments provide the chicken negotiating agency, which determines the live price of chicken in Ontario and comprises representatives appointed by CFO and AOCP, authority to negotiate charges, costs or expenses related to emergency euthanasia caused by COVID-19 related processing capability reductions

The additional charges, subject to agreement by the parties, would be used to compensate chicken producers and processors for birds that must be euthanized because they are unable to be processed as a result of COVID-19.

Regulation 402 is a Commission regulation, which the Commission has authority to amend.

The Regulation has been filed with the Registrar of Regulations and in now in effect.
