Summary of Proposal:
The OMHC was a provincial agency reporting to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing under the Ontario Mortgage and Housing Corporation Act, 1990. Its responsibilities were primarily financial in nature related to public housing properties the agency used to own. It also delivered and financed various legacy housing programs.

Following a recommendation by the Agency Review Task Force, the 2019 Ontario Budget indicated that the OMHC's activities and obligations would be taken on as a ministry function. To dissolve the OMHC, the OMHC Repeal Act, 2020 was introduced in March 2020 as part of the Protecting Tenants and Strengthening Community Housing Act, 2020 (Bill 184). The OMHC Repeal Act, 2020 was proclaimed on March 31, 2021. In order to ensure an orderly dissolution, the ministry amended Ontario Regulations 369/11 and 394/10 to remove references to the OMHC.
