Summary of Proposal:
College Introduction

Under the Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007, the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) is responsible for governing the self-regulating profession of early childhood education in Ontario.

Under this Act, the CECE may make regulations on a variety of subject matters, including registration, subject to prior review by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and the approval of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

Summary of Proposal
The College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) is proposing amendments to its registration regulation to bring its registration requirements into compliance with the Ontario Labour Mobility Act, 2009 (OLMA).

The proposed amendments to the current registration regulation include:

• Provisions to comply with OLMA.

• A technical amendment to clarify the process relating to applicants whose educational qualifications are individually assessed.

• An amendment to specify dates applicable to applicants who have been issued a letter of equivalency certificate or a recognition of equivalency certificate by the Association of Early childhood Educators Ontario or the Association francophone à l’éducation des services à l’enfance de l’Ontario.
