Regulation - LGIC

Centre Jules-Léger Consortium Meetings Regulation

Regulation Number(s):
O. Reg. 606/21
Instrument Type:
Regulation - LGIC
Bill or Act:
Education Act
Summary of Decision:
The proposed LGIC regulation was approved by Cabinet on August 24, 2021 and filed on August 31, 2021. The Ministry of Education did not receive any feedback from stakeholders during the public consultation period.
Analysis of Regulatory Impact:
In June 2021, the Education Act was amended to repeal provisions governing the meeting requirements of the Centre Jules-Léger Consortium (CJLC) and to add new regulation-making authority respecting CJLC meetings (these amendments would come into force upon proclamation). If the CJLC meeting requirements are prescribed in regulation rather than set out in the Education Act, this would provide greater flexibility if additional amendments are required in future.

The Ministry of Education has not identified any costs to government proceeding with the proposed regulation.

There will be no direct impact on other education stakeholders.
