Summary of Proposal:
The proposed amendments to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Act (MAFRAA) would, if passed, add a provision to Section 4 of the MAFRAA to codify OMAFRA's existing role in:
• Reviewing matters related to agriculture, food and rural affairs;
• Providing recommendations, advice, coordination and assistance to the government in matters
related to agriculture, food and rural affairs; and
• Establishing policies relating to agriculture, food and rural affairs.
In addition, provisions will be added to the MAFRAA to govern the collection, use and disclosure of information, including personal information.
