Humane trapping amendments to Ontario Regulation under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act

Summary of Decision:
A decision was made to amend Ontario Regulation 667/98 (Trapping) under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act to add additional traps to the list of those certified as being compliant with the Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards (AIHTS).

This regulation was filed by the Registrar of Regulations on September 1, 2021.
Analysis of Regulatory Impact:
These amendments to the Trapping Regulation will not impact trappers or Ontario businesses but rather provide additional options for trappers in the field.

These amendments will add additional traps to the existing list of humane trapping devices that are available for use by licensed trappers in Ontario.

There are no new administrative costs for business.
