Regulation Number(s):
Regulation 414: Grapes for Processing – Marketing
Instrument Type:
Regulation - Other
Bill or Act:
Farm Products Marketing Act
Summary of Decision:
The Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission amended Regulation 414: Grapes for Processing - Marketing under the Farm Products Marketing Act.

The amendments provide negotiating agencies appointed by the Grape Growers of Ontario, Wine Growers Ontario, and Ontario Craft Wineries with the option to negotiate multi-year agreements for the minimum price of grapes for processing and late harvest juice. Negotiating agencies can continue to negotiate one-year agreements if they choose to.

The Regulation was filed with the Registrar of Regulations and is now in effect.
Analysis of Regulatory Impact:
There would be no new compliance costs to the processing grape industry as a result of the proposed amendments; however, there may be some administrative cost-saving opportunities for the industry should they opt to not negotiate annually.
