Summary of Decision:
Approved amendments to regulation to make health care providers and executives accountable for improving patient care, the regulation would:
- Amend s 2(4) to require critical incident reporting system disclosure to affected patients, the Medical Advisory Committee and the hospital administrator.
- Require the board to ensure that administrator establishes a system for ensuring analysis of critical incidents and development of plans with steps to avoid or reduce risk of similar incidents.
- Repeal s. 2(2) so that persons listed there would no longer be required to sit on the board.
- Prohibit the following persons, where members of the board, from being voting members: 1. Members of the medical staff, dental staff, extended class nursing staff or midwifery staff of the hospital; and 2. Any employee of the hospital.
