Summary of Proposal:
Under Ontario's Open for Business initiative, proposing to amend R.R.O. 1990, Ontario Regulation 737, Section 42 (4) to add the power of recreation which will provide the LSB of Pellat, Pelican, Umbach, Gidley the ability to collect a fee from inhabitants (property owners) to provide recreational services within its geographical boundary.
Analysis of Regulatory Impact:
Adding the Power of Recreation will enable the LSB to collect a fee from its inhabitants to cover costs associated with recreational services provided to the community. The LSB will determine how much tax will be required by residents. The Ministry estimates the total cost for implementing the new tax in 2023-24 will be $28,000. The cost could change from year to year based on recreational services provided to the community. Having the LSB as the collection body for the services will provide a more sustainable delivery model to that currently being provided.
