Summary of Proposal:
College Introduction
Under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA) and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Act, 2006, the transitional Council of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (TC- CTCMPAO) will be responsible for governing the self-regulating profession of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture in Ontario.
Under these Acts, the TC- CTCMPAO may make regulations on a variety of subject matters, including registration, subject to the prior approval by the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and the approval of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.
Summary of Regulation
The TC-CTCMPAO has a new registration regulation made under the Traditional Chinese Medicine Act, 2006, which includes the following:
a) the classes of registration;
b) specific requirements for each class of registration;
c) requirements common to all classes of registration;
d) reporting requirements;
e) terms, limits and conditions for all classes of registration;
f) titles for members;
g) revocation and suspension provisions;
h) reinstatement provisions;
i) requirements for members to carry professional liability insurance;
j) specific grandparenting provisions; and
k) labour mobility.
