Summary of Proposal:
Nursing Bursaries Regulation 789 under the Ministry of Health Act (now the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Act) provided that the minister could provide bursaries to nurses in their last or second last year of schooling in certain situations. There were also circumstances where continuing education bursaries might be paid to practicing nurses.

Nursing Innovation Fund Regulation 790 under the Ministry of Health Act provided that the minister could also provide nursing innovation fund bursaries to qualifying Ontario nurses for the purpose of attending an eligible education or training program related to nursing.

Both Regulation 789 under the Ministry of Health Act and Regulation 790 under the Ministry of Health Act became spent on October 10, 1997 when the authority to make these regulations in the Ministry of Health Act was repealed. Effectively, this means that these regulations have not had any legal effect for many years. The revocation of these regulations is housekeeping and will not have any impact whatsoever on the current funding of nursing initiatives by the Ministry.
