Rules of VQA Ontario relating to terms, descriptions and designations for VQA wine

Summary of Decision:
Add Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella vitis vinifera species (established varieties of European origin), to the list of approved grape varieties for VQA wines.

Add "effervescent wines" as a new category for VQA wines. These wines are lightly effervescent and naturally carbonated but at a lower pressure than traditional sparkling wines.

Increase the minimum brix level (i.e., sugar content) for grapes, by variety, used in wines with the "Ontario" appellation.

Simplify the brix charts for wines labelled with viticultural area appellations.

Revise the technical standards for Sparkling Icewine.

Amend varietal labelling rules to improve consistency when grape variety names are displayed on a wine label.
