Summary of Decision:
From April 7, 2011 to May 6, 2011, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (ministry) consulted with its stakeholders regarding proposed amendments to O. Reg. 79/10 (Regulation) under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007 (LTCHA). The ministry proposed a number of amendments to O. Reg. 79/10 under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007, including amendments to capital requirements, amendments to update terminology and amendments to enhance clarity to better reflect regulatory intent. The feedback received from stakeholders was considered and informed the drafting of the final amendments to the Regulation under the LTCHA. Summary of Proposal:
The Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007 (LTCHA) and O. Reg. 79/10 under the LTCHA were proclaimed into force on July 1st, 2010. The LTCHA is now the single legislative authority for safeguarding resident rights, improving the quality of care and improving the accountability of LTC homes for the care, treatment and well-being of over 75,000 residents.

The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, on behalf of the Government of Ontario, is proposing a number of amendments including amendments to capital requirements, to enhance clarity and update terminology to O. Reg. 79/10 under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007.
