Summary of Proposal:
College Introduction
Under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA) and the Kinesiology Act, 2007, the transitional Council of the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario is, among other things, responsible for making regulations respecting the future self-regulating profession of kinesiology in Ontario.
Under these Acts, the transitional Council may make regulations on a variety of subject matters, including prescribing a quality assurance program, subject to the prior review of the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and the approval of the Lieutenant-Governor-in-Council.
Summary of Regulation
The transitional Council of the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (TCCKO) Quality Assurance Regulation made under the Kinesiology Act, 2007, sets out the College's mandatory Quality Assurance Program for its members.
The regulation establishes the core components of the program, which include:
· Self-Assessment;
· Continuing Education;
· Professional Development;
· Peer and Practice Assessment; and
· Remediation.
It also sets out how members participate in the program, how they are assessed and the procedural rules for ensuring the fairness of the program.
