Regulation - LGIC

Amendment to Ontario Regulation 316/07 under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006 to add 40.5 hectares to Hardy Lake Provincial Park

Regulation Number(s):
316/07
Instrument Type:
Regulation - LGIC
Bill or Act:
Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006
Summary of Proposal:
Hardy Lake Provincial Park is a 765 ha, non-operating, natural environment class park. It is located on Muskoka Road 169, 19 km west of Gravenhurst within Wood Ward of the Township of Muskoka Lakes, District Municipality of Muskoka. The park protects species at risk, provincially and locally rare species, and their habitats. Hardy Lake Provincial Park provides low-intensity day-use recreation only. Camping, hunting and commercial harvesting are not permitted in the park.

A park management planning process carried out from 1983-1986 identified Lot 20, Concession VI (40.5 hectares) as a priority for acquisition. The majority of comments received during the consultation were in support of the proposed management plan as a whole. The approved Hardy Lake Provincial Park Management Plan was released in 1986 and showed the parcel as part of the park, however the boundary regulation process to add the parcel was never initiated.

MNR intends to correct this administrative error and add this parcel to Hardy Lake Provincial Park by amending Ontario Regulation 316/07 under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006. This will result in an increase in the park's size from 765 ha to 805.5 ha.
