College Introduction

Under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA) and the Naturopathy Act, 2007, the transitional Council of the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (TC-CONO) will be, among other things, responsible for making regulations respecting the self-regulating profession of naturopathy in Ontario.

Under these Acts, the TC-CONO may make regulations on a variety of subject matters, including prescribing a Quality Assurance Program, subject to the prior review of the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and the approval of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

Summary of Regulation

The complementary amendment to the quality assurance program regulation would add a referral by the Registrar to the list of criteria under which a member would be selected for a peer and practice assessment. Such referrals would be one of the possible outcomes where members fail to meet their currency hour requirements, as set out in the registration regulation.
