Summary of Proposal:
As a result of Ontario's Living Legacy, Land Use Strategy, four forest reserves (F114, F138, F136, F159) were established in the North Bay District. These are recommended protected areas which overlap with existing mining tenure. Since this time, the mining tenures in these areas have lapsed through normal processes, initiating a re-designation of each forest reserve to conservation reserve.
The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), North Bay District is proposing the re-designation of Swan Lake Forest Reserve (F114) to Swan Lake Conservation Reserve (C114), Blue Lake End Moraine Forest Reserve (F138) to Blue Lake End Moraine Conservation Reserve (C138), Spring Lake Cut Forest Reserve (F136) to Spring Lake Cut Conservation Reserve (C136) and McLaren Forest Forest Reserve (F159) to McLaren Forest Conservation Reserve (C159).
MNR has also proposed updates to the associated policy reports for each protected area. Amendments to the policy reports associated with this regulation change (# 2007-018, 2007-023, 2009-006) can be found on the Crown Land Use Policy Atlas.
MNR is inviting the public to comment on the proposed boundary regulation changes before these are finalized for regulation under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserve Act.
