Summary of Proposal:
The Ontario Health Insurance Plan covers payments for medically necessary physician services, prescribed hospital and health facility services. The Schedule of Benefits for Physician Services (Schedule) lists the physician services that are insured under Ontario's Health Insurance Act (HIA). The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has submitted changes to the Health Insurance Act and Regulation 552 resulting in changes to OHIP payments through the Schedule of Benefits for Physician Services. These changes will fulfill obligations under the 2008 Physician Services Agreement between the Ontario Medical Association and the Government of Ontario. These investments provide an opportunity for advancing evidence-based health care. The investment strategy focuses on quality improvement based upon the best evidence available, and commits to linking future investments in health care to both a better experience and better results for patients. These investments will help improve patient access to services and supports the government's health care agenda.
