Summary of Proposal:
MTO proposed amendments to the regulation comprise of the following changes:

- Modify the maximum wheelbase of 6.2 metre on the tractor of Designated Tractor-Trailer Combination 1-Tractor Fixed Axle Semi-Trailer. Tractors with wheelbases up to 7.2 metres will be permitted, so long as they are used in conjunction with trailers that have a corresponding reduction in wheelbase;

- Modify the grandfathering privileges of Twin-Steer Tandem-Drive trucks combined with trailers in a non-SPIF configuration (one that does not meet the regulated specifications). The gross vehicle weight allowance is reduced so as to ensure overall safety and performance; and

- Make minor modifications to ensure consistent terminology in the Regulation and to eliminate typographical errors.
