Expiry of the 3-year exemption for Commercial Drivers and Amateur Radio Operators

Summary of Decision:
The following changes to Highway Traffic Act O.Reg 366/09 (Display Screens and Hand-Held Devices) have been approved:

1) Extension of the current two-way radio exemption for an additional five years for the same specified commercial, public transit, and public function drivers; and

2) Extension of the current exemption for licenced amateur radio operators for an additional five years

The amendment (Ontario Regulation 253/12) was filed on September 6, 2012 and will become effective on January 1, 2013 (with an expiry date of January 1, 2018).
