Posting Date:
April 30, 2012
Summary of Proposal:
This posting outlines the proposed content of regulations that are required so that jointly sponsored pension plans (JSPPs) and the administrators of multi-employer pension plans (MEPPs) can elect to opt out of providing grow-in benefits. The posting also outlines the proposed circumstances in which an employer-initiated termination of employment would and would not be considered an "activating event" that triggers grow-in benefits. The posting includes a proposal to clarify that the Superintendent may wind up a pension plan if it has no members or the benefits of its members have crystallized.
