Summary of Proposal:
The Funeral Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002 (FBCSA) was proclaimed and will come into effect on July 1, 2012. The FBCSA consolidates the two statutes that currently govern the bereavement sector, the Funeral Directors and Establishments Act and the Cemeteries Act (Revised). Once the FBCSA takes effect, the Cemeteries Act (Revised), including Ont. Reg. 131/92 that sets the fees for the cemetery and crematorium sector, will be repealed and no longer in effect.

The Ministry of Consumer Services is proposing to update the existing cemetery and crematorium fees.
