The Strong Mayors, Building Homes Act, 2022, the Better Municipal Governance Act, 2022, and associated regulations give the heads of council (HOC) of certain municipalities strong mayor powers and duties. On December 6, 2023, Bill 142, the Better for Consumers, Better for Businesses Act, 2023 received Royal Assent. Bill 142 introduced a new Consumer Protection Act, 2023 (new CPA) that would, if proclaimed, replace the current Consumer Protection Act, 2002, which governs most personal and household consumer transactions in Ontario.

We are proposing to add new waste materials to the Off-Farm Anaerobic Digestion Materials Protocol under the Nutrient Management Act, 2002. The proposed amendment to O. Reg. 329/04 (General) under PHIPA (the PHIPA Regulation) would name Ornge as a "Prescribed Person" (i.e., a Prescribed Registry) in respect of its planned operation of the Critical Care Information System, replacing Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation.
The PHIPA Regulation currently identifies "Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation" as the prescribed person in respect of the Critical Care Information System under section 13 of the PHIPA Regulation.

The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness is seeking input on proposals that would amend the Milk Act and the Food Safety and Quality Act, 2001 to:

Following a request of the Ontario Flue-Cured Tobacco Growers' Marketing Board (OFCTGMB), the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission is proposing to amend Ontario Regulation 208/09 Tobacco - Marketing to change the deadline date by which producers must submit their acreage declarations to the OFCTGMB. The Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility is proposing under Schedule 2 of the Support for Seniors and Caregivers Act, 2024 to amend the Retirement Homes Act, 2010 (RHA) to make changes such as: 1.) Revise the RHA Residents' Bill of Rights to reinforce the right to ongoing support from caregivers (e.g., family/friends providing care); and
2.) Provide authority for specified employees of the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility to issue sector-specific direction and recommendations to retirement home licensees respecting the prevention and management of infectious respiratory or gastrointestinal diseases.

The Ministry of Finance is seeking comments on its proposal to amend Ontario Regulation 704/21 Exemption Orders Under Section 15.1 of the Act under the Insurance Act (O. Reg. 704/21). The amendment seeks to provide the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) with the ability to exempt persons or entities from the requirement of section 231 of the Insurance Act. The proposal aims to enable FSRA to consider the creation of a pilot project under FSRA's Test and Learn Environment (TLE) to facilitate the sale of automobile insurance at motor vehicle dealerships under FSRA's Test and Learn Environment (TLE).
