The Ontario Ministry of the Environment is proposing to amend regulations under the Environmental Protection Act (EPA) to require mandatory landfill gas collection and utilization or flaring for all operating or proposed new or expanding landfills with total waste disposal capacities larger than 1.5 million cubic metres.

A number of amendments to Regulation 54 under the Beef Cattle Marketing Act to accommodate the Ontario Cattlemen's Association's (OCA) participation in the Canadian Beef Cattle Research, Market Development and Promotion Agency (federal agency); improve the competitiveness of livestock dealers; and provide for amendments that are considered housekeeping in nature.

The unproclaimed Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002 (the new Act) was recently amended by the Consumer Protection and Service Modernization Act (Bill 152). The new Act consolidates and modernizes two existing statutes, the Cemeteries Act (Revised) and the Funeral Directors and Establishments Act.

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) is proposing to develop a regulation under the Environmental Protection Act to ban the incineration of tires, for a 24 month period, possibly starting in the spring of 2007. The ban could be extended to 36 months. The proposed ban will not apply to any facility with approval to incinerate tires issued before the ban is in effect.
