Amendments to O. Reg. 213/91 (Construction Projects) under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) have been approved to require that menstrual products be provided at projects expected to last three months or more and at which twenty or more workers are regularly employed.

Ontario Regulation 370/11 under the Housing Services Act, 2011 was amended to update the Household Income Limits (HILs) and High Need Income Limits (HNILs). The updated HILs and HNILs are based on information provided by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) as required under the Social Housing Agreement, 1999.
The new limits come into effect on January 1, 2025.

The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) is proposing to amend O. Reg. 525/97 (Exemption from Approval - Official Plan Amendments) under the Planning Act in order to exempt certain municipalities from the requirement to obtain the Minister's approval of most official plan amendments.

The Ministry of Health is proposing to amend Reg. 553 (Areas Comprising Health Units) and Reg. 559 (Designation of Municipal Members of Boards of Health) under the Health Protection and Promotion Act to effect the voluntary mergers of specified local public health agencies. Consequential amendments would also be required to Reg. 569 (Reports).

To support the Northern Services Boards Act (NSBA) Modernization Initiative, the Ministry of Northern Development (MND) undertook an internal review of the NSBA in Fall 2023, and conducted consultation sessions with Local Services Boards (LSBs) in early 2024. As a result of this work, MND is proposing nine (9) legislative amendments to the NSBA to modernize the Act and address feedback received. One of the proposed amendments to the NSBA will also require making consequential amendments to the Ombudsman Act.

The Ministry of Health is posting a notice of proposed regulatory amendments under the Health Protection and Promotion Act (HPPA) for public consultation. The amendments include: 1) removing a requirement for public health led school-based vision screening, to refocus on OHIP-covered services provided by optometrists and physicians, 2) updating public pool regulations to modernize requirements for novel pool types, clarify technical elements, and reduce burden 3) amending regulations related to zoonotic diseases, 4) improving surveillance and reporting for C. auris and 5) administrative changes to certain regulations to align references with the Ontario Building Code regulation O. Reg. 163.

We are proposing amendments to O.Reg. 509/18 (Energy and Water Efficiency - Appliances and Products) ("Efficiency Regulation"), made under the Electricity Act, 1998 to harmonize the standards for 42 products through rolling incorporation by reference to Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) standards, and housekeeping amendments to revoke now obsolete efficiency requirements for three products regulated under the Efficiency Regulation. These changes are administrative in nature and would have no impact on energy use or GHG emissions.

We are proposing regulatory amendments Ontario Regulation 667/98 (Trapping) under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act,1997 (FWCA), to change design specifications of relaxing cable restraints used for trapping in Ontario. Changes are being proposed to the maximum rating of breakaway components and minimum cable loop requirements.

The Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS; ministry) is proposing amendments to Ontario Regulation 156/18 under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, 2017 (CYFSA) that would require children's aid societies (societies) to conduct safety assessments and create safety plans where needed, and develop a plan of care, for children in care in adoption placement settings. The ministry is also proposing to make related amendments to update Policy Directive CW 003-20 so that it reflects the new regulatory requirements. All proposed changes would come into effect on January 1, 2025.

The Ministry is proposing changes to the Ontario Building Code related to the use, maximum height and application of Encapsulated Mass Timber Construction (EMTC). The Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) is proposing to amend Ontario Regulations 155/18 and 156/18 under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, 2017 (CYFSA) to improve the everyday experiences of children and young persons in licensed residential settings by strengthening monitoring and oversight of licensed settings, by enhancing timely access to health and safety risk information, and by increasing the suite of meaningful enforcement tools available to MCCSS when a licensed provider caring for vulnerable children and youth does not comply with licensing requirements.
