Auto sector employees will not be entitled to PEL pay if they are entitled under their employment to receive two or more paid days that are in excess of the ESA's vacation or public holiday standards or the paid days are for personal illness or medical appointments. This special rule applies to unionized and non-unionized employees in the sector. The 50 employee threshold has also been removed. Employers are prohibited from requesting a note from a qualified health practitioner as evidence.

If Bill 139 is passed by the Legislature and receives Royal Assent, the proposed transition regulation would set out rules for planning matters in process at the time of proclamation of the Bill 139 changes to the Planning Act and would provide certainty regarding the processing and decision-making on planning matters. Changes to the Planning Act through Bill 139 not addressed in the proposed transition regulation would apply immediately upon the coming into force of those changes.

Health Canada has proposed changes to require a prescription for all antimicrobial drugs that are deemed medically-important for human health. The Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission (Commission) is proposing to amend Regulation 761 under the Milk Act. The amendments were requested by Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO) after consultation with dairy farmers and industry stakeholders. DFO's request resulted from an agreement to harmonize milk quality programs in Eastern Canada. The proposed amendments would make changes to the raw milk quality program including animal care and welfare requirements for dairy cattle.

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) is requesting approval to make consequential amendments to provisions respecting Ontario Health Insurance Plan eligibility for children in the care of a children's aid society in Regulation 552 under the Health Insurance Act (HIA) to align with changes to the Child and Family Services Act (CFSA) that will permit child protection services to be extended to 16- and 17-year-olds, which is expected to be proclaimed into force on January 1, 2018.

The Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (ministry) is proposing to amend Ontario Regulation 419/05: Air Pollution - Local Air Quality (O. Reg. 419/05 or the "Regulation") made under the Environmental Protection Act. The proposed amendments would introduce updated air standards for sulphur dioxide and clarify the requirements for assessing operating conditions in O. Reg. 419/05. The ministry is also reviewing the need for consequential amendments.

Proposed consequential amendments to O. Reg 285/01 and O. Reg. 476/06 under the Employment Standards Act, 2000 as a result of the Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act. These amendments would remove provisions that would be addressed in the ESA, specifically: those addressing the minimum wage rate that applies to a student who is a homeworker, determining minimum wage compliance when changes to the minimum wage take place during a pay period, and prescribed family members.

The Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017 amends the ESA to provide all employees with ten PEL days per calendar year. If an employee has been employed for at least one week, the first two days would be paid. The proposed regulation would exempt construction employees from the entitlement to paid personal emergency leave if they receive at least 0.8% of their hourly rate or wages as personal emergency pay.
Their entitlement to 10 PEL days per calendar year would not be affected.

Stoco Fen Provincial Park is a 203 ha nature reserve class park that was established in 1985. The park protects most of the open fen component of the provincially significant Stoco Fen wetland and Area of Natural and Scientific Interest.
