The government is proposing to make changes to the Planning Act to create a new economic development tool, the open-for-business planning by-law. The tool would be available to all local municipalities, if certain prescribed criteria are met, to ensure they can act quickly to attract businesses seeking development sites.

The Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines is proposing to amend O. Reg. 274/18 ("Siting Regulation"), which imposes siting restrictions on renewable energy generation facilities ("Projects"), as part of the transition to municipal planning authority resulting from the Planning Act amendments under the Green Energy Repeal Act, 2018.

Consultation on the 2018 legislative review of the Mortgage Brokerages, Lenders and Administrators Act, 2006
Mr. Doug Downey, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Finance, has been appointed to conduct the legislative review of the Mortgage Brokerages, Lenders and Administrators Act, 2006 (MBLAA). As part of the review, the government will consult with the public and stakeholders on finding efficiencies and reducing unnecessary regulatory burden, so that mortgage brokers can focus on helping their clients.

Proposed amendments to Regulation 761 under the Milk Act
The Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission is proposing amendments to Regulation 761: Milk and Milk Products, under the Milk Act. The proposed amendments are intended to help reduce burden for existing dairy processors, new and expanding dairy processors, and small foodservice and retail operations.

We are proposing to list the double-crested cormorant as a game bird, create a hunting season in Ontario for population management and make related changes. This proposal would be implemented through a series of regulatory and legislative amendments.
