Proposed Legislative Amendments to the Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act, 2012 under the Building Infrastructure Safely Act, 2023

The Building Infrastructure Safely Act, 2023, if passed, would amend the Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act, 2012 (One Call Act). The proposed legislative amendments to the Act would, among other things, enhance Ontario's locate delivery system while maintaining safety and help to ensure the efficient and sustainable operation of Ontario One Call.

Consultation on the 2025 National Construction Codes (Nov-Dec 2023)

Ontario's Building Code is a regulation under the Building Code Act, 1992 which sets out minimum administrative and technical requirements for new construction, renovation, and change of use of buildings. New editions or major amendments to Ontario's Building Code are generally released every five years to coincide with updates to the National Construction Codes.

Ontario Regulation 429/04 Amendments Related to the Treatment of Corporate Power Purchase Agreements

Following the release of the Powering Ontario's Growth plan, we are proposing changes to accelerate the growth of new clean electricity generation in the province by allowing qualifying commercial and industrial customers to offset their facility's demand through power purchase agreements (PPAs) with renewable generation facilities.

The Planning Statute Law Amendment Act, 2023.

The ministry is seeking feedback on proposed legislation that would ensure that official plan decisions are made in a manner that supports our goal of building at least 1.5 million homes and that maintains and reinforces public trust. The Planning Statute Law Amendment Act, 2023 was introduced on November 16, 2023, and if passed, would enact the Official Plan Adjustments Act, 2023 which would reverse decisions on official plans affecting 12 municipalities: Barrie, Belleville, Guelph, Hamilton, Ottawa, Peterborough, Halton, Niagara, Peel, Waterloo, York, Wellington. The Act would also amend the Planning Act to introduce immunity provisions relating to minister's zoning order powers.

Proposed amendments to O. Reg. 436/22 Definitions and Prescribed Provisions under the Building Broadband Faster Act, 2021

The proposed amendments to Ontario Regulation 436/22 (Definitions and Prescribed Provisions) would prescribe requirements under s. 9 (3) of the Building Broadband Faster Act, 2021 that project proponents must follow when they are authorized by the Minister of Infrastructure to conduct work for designated broadband projects.

Proposed Regulatory changes to enable an Ontario Works cost sharing relationship between a Delivery Agent and Delivery Partner - Amendments to O.Reg. 135/98 - Administration and Cost Sharing

The Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services is proposing regulation amendments to the current Administration and Cost Sharing regulation as a result of recent legislative changes. The proposed amendments are technical changes to reflect that the current cost-sharing relationship between the ministry and municipalities and District Social Services Administration Boards in specific geographic areas will continue where the ministry becomes the delivery agent. There will be no impact at this time to cost sharing or funding arrangements as a result of the proposed regulation. Cost sharing will be reviewed at a later date once the ministry has refined the new program structure.

Proposed Regulatory changes to designate the Ministry as Delivery Agent in 3 Geographic Areas - Amendments to O. Reg. 136/98: Designation of Geographic Areas and Delivery Agents

The Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services is moving forward with its plan to streamline and improve service delivery for Ontario Works by sharing administrative responsibility for the program. The ministry is proposing amendments to designate itself as the delivery agent in the following geographic areas, and to designate the following as the first delivery partners for those areas; The District Municipality of Muskoka; the County of Peterborough and City of Peterborough; and the Regional Municipality of York. Additional amendments are proposed to explain the powers and duties of the delivery agent and the delivery partner.

Public consultation on proposed amendments to O. Reg. 105/22 under the Credit Unions and Caisses Populaires Act, 2020 (CUCPA) to remove the requirement for credit unions to include the last audited financial statements that were tabled before credit union members in any offering statement.

The Ministry of Finance is proposing to make a regulatory amendment to reduce burden on credit unions and investors by eliminating the requirement for credit unions to include the last audited financial statements that were tabled before members in any offering statement. The existing requirement that the audited financial statements be approved by the board and signed by the CEO would remain as that is important material information for investors. The proposed amendment would remove "that were placed before the members at the most recent annual general meeting" from section 13(5)(1) of Part IV of O. Reg. 105/22. Proposed regulatory amendments under the Ontario Drug Benefit Act and the Drug Interchangeability and Dispensing Fee Act to modernize submission requirements for manufacturers of "well-established drugs"

The Ministry of Health is proposing regulatory amendments under the Ontario Drug Benefit Act and the Drug Interchangeability and Dispensing Fee Act to remove barriers that may prevent "well-established drugs" from being publicly funded under the Ontario Drug Benefit program or designated as interchangeable in Ontario. Well-established drugs are drug products containing substances that have been sold in Canada for sufficient time and in sufficient quantity to establish their safety and effectiveness. The proposed regulatory amendments would modernize submission requirements for manufacturers of well-established drugs and ultimately improve access to treatment options for Ontarians.

The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks is proposing amendments to Ontario Regulation 406/19 (the excess soil regulation) and the Rules for Soil Management and Excess Soil Quality Standards to encourage greater reuse of low-risk excess soils as part of a circular economy and to prevent usable soil from being disposed of in landfill.
