Proposed Regulatory Change to O. Reg. 138/15 (Funding, Cost Sharing and Financial Assistance) under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014

The Ministry of Education is seeking feedback on a proposed draft amendment to a regulation under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014. The proposed change would require service system managers to process applications for financial assistance with the cost of a child care service based on the date the application was received, and to work cross-jurisdictionally to facilitate access to care, if necessary and in accordance with any policies regarding the prioritization of applications.

The ministry is proposing regulatory changes to Ontario Regulation 244/97 under the Aggregate Resources Act to expand the list of changes that can be made to site plans without ministry approval (subject to conditions) and proposing a policy that would provide direction for changes to licences, permits and site plans where ministry approval is required.

2023 Ontario Fire Code

The Ministry of the Solicitor General is seeking input on proposed changes to the Ontario Fire Code (OFC) for 2023. The approach for the 2023 OFC focuses on changes that: • Improve harmonization with the 2020 National Fire Code; • Align with recent changes to the Ontario Building Code; • Strengthen fire safety by addressing known fire safety risks; and • Address administrative, consequential, and minor technical amendments. The government has committed to bringing into force an updated version of the Ontario Fire Code by March 2024, as part of efforts to reduce red tape and barriers through more coordinated development of construction codes at the federal and provincial/territorial levels.
