This consultation is connected to, but separate from, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development's consultation on exploring the potential of lowering Academic Entry Requirements (AERs) for apprenticeship registration for trades set at a Grade 12 level.

Building on these strategic priorities, and focused on the staffing and care pillar, the ministry is seeking to better understand the scope of the resident support personnel role in long-term care homes, to inform future work and provide sector guidance.

The Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery (MPBSD) has made a new regulation under the Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act, 2012 (the Act) that would extend the time limit for certain standard locate requests. A longer time limit is intended to address stakeholder concerns with meeting the standard locate time limit of five business days for large projects.

Amendments were made to the Education Act by the Better Schools and Student Outcomes Act, 2023 (the Act), which received Royal Assent on June 8, 2023. A key element of the changes is to ensure effective governance and leadership across all school boards including clear accountabilities and responsibilities for monitoring the performance of the Director of Education. To support this intent, the Ministry of Education (EDU) is consulting on a proposed new regulation that would provide for a clear, consistent and transparent performance appraisal process for Directors of Education.
